Challenges Library

Papercraft challenges keep our creative juices flowing, our hands moving and our minds limbered up. Following is a library of card, papercraft and scrapbook page challenges for you to try your hand at.

Are you new to challenges or overwhelmed by this list? Don't fret. I am here to help. I suggest you:
  • Choose a challenge that speaks to your weakest skill. For example, I have trouble coming up with  layouts. If I choose a sketch challenge, I will have a ready-made layout sketch to use and I won't have to design my own.
  • Choose a challenge that allows you enough time to create for it, post your entry, and be part of any judging or prize drawing the site might have before the entry deadline.
  • Read the rules or guidelines. Most challenge blogs ask that you create something new and not use an old project you already made. Some ask that you to limit the number of additional challenges you enter. Some insist you use their products on your project. Some require you to have a blog. Nevertheless, read the rules to save yourself time, effort and disappointment.
  • Enter multiple challenges. If the rules allow (most do), combine a sketch challenge with a color challenge and a few others. Take a look at Pile It On to see how far you might go with this.
  • Challenges are sometimes specific about whether they are for cards or scrapbook pages, but often these challenges will be happy to see any kind of project using the challenge guidelines. Check the rules and the other entries first. Just because I've listed it under Card Challenges or Scrapbook Challenges doesn't mean that is all you can enter. It is just what I see most of.
  • Wanna show off? Almost all challenges you enter will net you visitors to your specific blog post. Some will judge the entries and showcase winning projects. Others will choose a random number and pick that entrant as the winner. Several do both. See how previous winners were chosen and showcased and decide from that.
  • In order that the challenge hosts and others can more easily find your project, use the specific "code" in your blog post title or online gallery. For example, if you were entering the City Crafter Challenge Blog's 46th challenge, your would need to tag your entry with CCCB#46 so it would be found with the rest of the entries upon a search.
  • Don't forget to comment. Every challenge blog enjoys getting comments just as much as entries, so don't enter and run. Hit comment and tell why you like the challenge and what you like about others' work. And most folks will appreciate it if you turn off the comment moderation feature on your blog as retyping that smeared lettering you see in the box takes time.
I have categorized all of these to help you find just what you are looking for without having to waste time. Please - if you find any dead links, deactivated blogs or websites, or challenges that have changed from what is listed, email me at janetakatz@gmail.com. I will make a change to the library ASAP. Or, if you know of a regularly scheduled challenge, I'd be happy to add it. I just need the details and the link. This is a work in progress. Thanks and enjoy!
